Nowhere to Hide

Mel, a techno-geek biding her time in a soul-destroying job at ComOne, the one remaining U.S. government-controlled internet company in the year 2039, maintains a secret parallel life as a hacktivist. When her Black Internet Ops team leader Manish decides that it’s time to get serious in the quest to help fellow gig workers fight back against the U.S. government, Mel and her buddy Mike agree to hack the White House to further the cause. Once in, they discover the true nature of President Smith’s plot to bring down the gigs. But the clock is ticking. The dreaded Federal Social Compliance Bureau has picked up their scent. In the 2030s world of AI-dominated internet, there is nowhere to hide.
WWIII

The Black Internet Ops team have gone to ground. From their lair in a warehouse in the Bronx, New York, they employ every tool in the hackers’ arsenal in an attempt to uncover the true agenda of President Smith, whose ultimate goal they now know reaches far beyond his attempts to undermine the gig workers. As they widen the net, they uncover other suspicious actors within the President’s inner circle. Some who would help him, and some who are in opposition, pulling towards their own opaque ends. Realizing that they are out of their depth, Mel attempts to convince the President’s Chief of Staff Kelly Frederickson to switch sides and join the BiO team. But will it be enough to prevent WWIII?
